Extra-Curricular Opportunities

The Music department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities for performers at all levels such as:

  • Jazz Band
  • Orchestra
  • Chamber Choir
  • Pop Choir
  • Ukulele Orchestra
  • Rock bands

Whether a beginner or a more experienced instrumentalist, St. Mary’s Music Department offers instrumental tuition on most instruments. These lessons take part during the school day, on a rotational timetable, with professional tutors who can guarantee progression and enjoyment.

Oh Lord, please bless this music that it might glorify your name. May the talent that you have bestowed upon me be used only to serve you.

Let this music be a witness to your majesty and love, and remind us that you are always watching, and listening, from your throne above.

May your presence and beauty be found in every note, and may the words that are sung reach the hearts of your people so they will draw closer to you.

May your Spirit guide us through every measure so that we might be the instruments of your peace, and proclaim your glory with glad voices.

Curriculum

Key Stage 3

All students study Music during Key Stage 3 and receive a music lesson every week. Pupils are taught in mixed ability classes.

Lessons in Key Stage 3 explore the development of new or existing performing, composing and music theory skills through weekly one-hour lessons.
We believe that nurturing musical skills through the use of a wide range of instruments and technology (including a fully equipped recording studio), coupled with links with the music industry, will give students the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
