Skills and talents showcased at St. Mary's annual Open Day

We were delighted that so many families and friends visited the school’s annual Open Day on Saturday October 4 2014. The sessions for prospective Year 7 students were full and were very well received. The Faculties had worked to produce some lovely displays and some very interesting work and activities, with Science proving very popular. It was a great opportunity for the students to showcase their skills and talents to families, grandparents, younger siblings (including an 8 day old baby!) and the local community. The facilities were shown at their best, including our football partner clubs on our Artificial Turf Pitch.
Feedback from our visitors indicated that the quality of displays was very good and informative, with very good practical demonstrations, that there was a good range of subjects and opportunities and that staff were welcoming and enthusiastic, very approachable and helpful. Particular mention was made of the excellent contribution of the Sixth Form students who acted as Tour Guides and helped in many of the subject classrooms.
We are grateful to all students who came into school on Saturday and participated in the many activities taking place: they are a credit to the school. We are also grateful for all staff who put in a great deal of work to ensure that the day runs smoothly and successfully.
It was our special 50th Anniversary Open Day. As well as the photos and memories project, each subject had 50th Anniversary displays or activities.
