On Tuesday, 24 November 2015, Pope Francis announced that he had chosen a Leeds priest, Mgr John Wilson, to become one of two new Auxiliary Bishops in the Diocese of Westminster.
Mgr John is currently Parish Priest of St Martin de Porres Parish in Wakefield and served as Diocesan Administrator for two and a half years during the period of Vacant See between Archbishop Arthur Roche and Bishop Marcus Stock. Mgr John has also served as Episcopal Vicar for Evangelisation leading the five year Come and See programme as well as served in parishes in Pontefract and Bradford. Additionally he also served for a number of years on the staff of Ushaw College seminary.
Mgr John will take up his new appointment in the new year and be ordained Bishop by Cardinal Nichols on 25 January 2016.

Twenty five Year 12 students recently took part in the annual Holy Island Retreat. The group, accompanied by Mrs Carmichael, Mr Smickersgill and Mr Cliffe, stayed on the island for two nights.
