Christmas Card Competition 2015 Announcement

Competition to design the two official St. Mary's Menston Christmas Cards

Pope Francis has established the Jubilee Year of Mercy which runs from 8 December 2015 to 20 November 2016. It is an opportunity not to be missed.

“The mercy of God is so central to the faith and the life of Pope Francis. It is his experience of God’s mercy and the way he shows to others the mercy he has received that makes him such a remarkable
figure in our world today. He knows that every person, whether they think of themselves as religious or not, longs for the embrace of mercy, the love that accepts us as we are and, at the same time, calls us to become what we are made to be.”
— Archbishop Vincent Nichols.

Therefore our theme for the Christmas Card Competition 2015 is: Merciful Like the Father

And we pray that families, especially those who suffer, may find in the birth of Jesus a sign of certain hope

  • The competition will be organised by our Art Department for lower school year groups.
  • Think about the layout of your design: what will be the focal point? (it doesn’t have to be in the centre of the card)
  • A winning design will be fully coloured in. Pressing hard using coloured pencils will help your work stand out.
  • Deadline to hand in: Friday 20 November 2015
  • The winning two card designs will be professionally produced as Christmas Cards for sale at a cost of 60p per card or £2.99 for a pack of six cards – three of each design in support of our 4 school charities.
  • 250 pupils entered the 2014 competition
  • We hope to have the cards available for sale at the beginning of December.
