Jack Garland-Jones selected to represent the Under 18 Great Britain Catholic Schools Football Team

Jack Garland-Jones has become the 35th student from St. Mary’s, Menston to gain junior international sporting honours

Seventeen year old A-level student Jack has been selected to represent the U18 Great Britain Catholic Schools Football team for the FISEC Games to be held in Malta in July 2015.

The Great Britain Catholic Schools Football team has in the past included many players who have gone on to star in professional football; Champions League winners Paul Scholes and Steve McManaman to name but two.

“It is a great honour to represent the Great Britain Catholic Schools team and I would like to thank my teachers at school for giving me the opportunity. The trials were of an incredibly high standard so I was so pleased to get the call up. I am particularly looking forward to the chance of playing against the Brazilian, Spanish and Italian opposition.”
— Jack Garland-Jones

“Jack is an outstanding young player with a great attitude. His desire to improve and work on his game is a key factor in his success. Jack has good experience with Leeds United and I am confident that he will equip himself very well in the international tournament.”
— Mr D Geldart, Assistant Headteacher at St. Mary’s and Jack’s Football coach at school

Later this week, you will be able to see an A2 poster of the above photograph on our sporting 'wall of fame' display in the corridor near M5 that celebrates our pupils' sporting achievements. Look forward to it!
