168 pupils from Year 8 enjoyed a fantastic week at the Outward Bound Centre on the edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District. Despite challenging weather conditions such as rain, hail, snow and wind, the pupils engaged in an array of ctivities such as Gorge scrambling, orienteering, rafting, tunnelling, rowing and abseiling. All pupils took part in the trademark Jog and Dip. Many took on challenging hikes, summiting Place Fell, Sheffield Pike and other fells above the snow line. An important part of the week involved achieving the John Muir Discovery award which involved conservation work within the national park. The last night saw communal camp fires. All in all a very rewarding week.

Well done to Lucy Twigger, 8W who wrote the following poem:

Aira Force

Running around a rapid waterfall
That creates beautiful rainbow prisms
The lake is still, smooth and sparkling

The waterfall was a tumbling, turning tornado
This adventure has been fun
Our visit to Aira Force has been done
