In celebration of the school’s 50th Anniversary, St. Mary’s have arranged a wide range of events to take place during the year.  There are a number of specific sporting events planned and on Sunday, 17 May a Golf Competition took place at Hollins Hall Marriott Hotel and Country Club.

The event was a fantastic success involving parents, former students and staff. The competition winner was Keiron Ryan with an outstanding performance in difficult conditions. The runner up was Carlos Horner and the third place went to Ian Warren. The ‘Longest Drive’ competition was won by Barry Miller and the ‘Nearest the Pin’ competition was won by Ian Warren.

“The day went really well and the competition was played in a great spirit. I would like to thank all those who participated and congratulations to the prize winners. There is no reason why this competition cannot become an annual event.”
— Former student Ben Townend, who organised the competition and was delighted with how well it went.

“It really was a great sporting occasion and thanks should go to all those involved. Ben Townend deserves great credit for the organisation which was impeccable. I would also like to thank Jackie Ash of St. Mary’s and past student Michelle Hefferon for all their hard work in supporting the event. Special thanks also to the team at Hollins Hall who looked after us very well indeed.”
— Mr Geldart, Assistant Headteacher at St. Mary’s and co-ordinator of the 50th Anniversary Sporting events
