Izzy Goodwin Swimming Success

Year 7 student Izzy Goodwin is certainly one to watch for the future in her chosen sport of swimming.

Izzy swims in the national squad at Leeds and after a fantastic end of season at the National Championships in Swansea, winning one Gold and 2 Bronze medals, she was selected by the England Swimming Talent Programme as meeting the criteria for development towards podium potential for the 2024 Olympic Games.  Part of the criteria was for her to be ranked in the top eight swimmers in her age group in Great Britain.  As such, she attends specialist development and training days with the Olympic coaching team, in addition to the twenty hours of training she does each week at Leeds.

Exciting times ahead for Izzy – well done!

“Izzy is clearly both an outstanding swimmer and student with a very bright future. It is fantastic to see that her efforts are rewarded and we will monitor her future successes with interest. Well done, Izzy!”
