Flame 2017

At the weekend, three St. Mary’s students and members of the Newman Group, attended the Catholic Youth Ministry Federation event, Flame 2017.

Held at the SSE Arena, Wembley, North London, Flame is the largest National Catholic Youth Event of the year.  Throughout the day, speakers gave bursts of input, interspersed with world class music and drama, giving the students much to be inspired by and to reflect upon. The St. Mary’s group, consisting of (L-R) Grace Middleton, William Inglehearn and Rachel Farmer, accompanied by Mrs Findlay and Fr John Carlisle, accompanied a larger group from the Diocese of Leeds and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“Flame was amazing. The speeches from Cardinals and other catholic leaders were inspirational and the music from Matt Redman was amazing too. I had a lovely day.”
— Rachel Farmer, Year 10
“I enjoyed Flame because I was able to meet new people and it was a lot of fun. It was also inspirational as it encouraged you to do better for yourself and other people.”
— Grace Middleton, Year 11
