The Year 7 students thoroughly enjoyed their day

Joy was the order of the day as Year 7 had the school to themselves to build their community alongside Form Tutors and their Head of Year. An assembly to explore the school’s ethos got things underway with JOY as its theme: J = Jesus, O = Others, Y = You which underpinned all the activities to follow.
At break time, the ice cream vans arrived and the rain stayed away! Lunch time presented an opportunity for the catering department to introduce themselves and congratulate Year 7 for their exemplary behaviour in the dining hall so far. More ice cream and another activity then it was time to celebrate the day by coming together for the closing liturgy. Each Form presented different elements of the day’s programme before Form candles were processed and received by Mrs Hayes and bidding prayers were read. Fr Carlisle gave the final blessing then blessed the bookmarks which were distributed at the end to remind Year 7, in the years to come, of the wonderful, joyful day they had shared.
Nine Faith in Action pupils from Years 7 and 8 processed with Bishop Marcus, many other clergy, parishioners and pupils from Diocesan schools on what turned out to be a dry and bright autumnal evening with a stunning sunset.
