Our Year 9 team are currently top of the LSNA League Division 1, winning all three games and scoring 40 goals.

St. Mary’s is pleased to report on the increasing success of our Year 9 Netball team, led by Level 2 Coach Miss Mallinson. The team have seen an impressive run of recent wins, including beating two local private schools. Five girls performed at District level last year with three stellar students nominated and then selected for the West Yorkshire County squad. In addition to this, a sixth will go on to trial for District Netball next month.

Year 9 and Year 8 Netballers will be attending the Manchester Thunder Netball tournament in November, which will provide a great opportunity to really show off their skills and learn new ones!

This is a promising start to the school year and a wonderful representation of what girls are capable of in sport, which we hope will inspire others.

Members of the Year 8 team, Aoife Rowley, Niamh Walsh, Carys Delahay and Charlotte Rawstron coached and umpired at the Leeds North West School Sports Partnership/Leeds Rhinos Primary Come and Try Netball Festival last week at St. Mary's. Eight schools in total attended and this was a great opportunity for the girls to share their own Netball skills through coaching and umpiring younger students.

“I was extremely impressed with their confidence to lead, coaching skills and knowledge. They nurtured the younger pupils and provided a lovely experience.”
