On Wednesday 7 February, six Year 8 and Year 9 pupils represented St. Mary's at the first ever Aireborough Rotary Club Youth Speaks competition.
Members of the school's debating club attended and spoke passionately about different subjects, competing against teams from Guiseley School. Our two teams were Martha Marjoram, Noah Spenceley and Hannah Jenkins talking about Child Tax Credit Cuts and Mae Crampton, Joseph De Souza and Alice Thornton presenting a Criticism of the current examination system.
Unfortunately we were narrowly beaten by one of the Guiseley teams, but all six pupils were fantastic representatives for the school. Next up is a competition in Manchester.
