Youth Speaks Competition 2019

On Thursday 7 February, members of the Debating Club from Years 7, 8 and 9 represented St. Mary's at the Rotary Club of Aireborough Youth Speaks Competition.

Well done to all three teams

The competition required the teams to take on three different roles and to present on a subject of their choice for ten minutes.

In the Intermediate category, Team 1: Amy Cox, Martha Marjoram and Amelia Crowther spoke about Veganism. Team 2: Charlotte Smith, William Miller and Fran Tadayon spoke about Mental Wellbeing.

In the Junior category, Team 3: Charlotte Oredecki, Hannah Jenkins and Katie Wright spoke on the topic of Climate Change.

We are delighted that Teams 1 and 3 were selected to proceed to the Regional Heats which will be held at Leeds Trinity University.  All three teams put in a great amount of effort and spoke confidently and passionately in front of the judges.
