Youth Speaks Competition March 2019

Following their recent success in the local round of the Rotary Club of Aireborough Youth Speaks Competition, six students from Years 7, 8 and 9 represented St. Mary’s in the District Finals of the competition held at Leeds Trinity University, competing against ten other schools from North and West Yorkshire .

Unfortunately, they didn't progress to the regional finals, but were fortunate enough to listen to some fantastic speeches on subjects such as Teenage Mental Health and the End of Patriarchy.

The teams consisted of Amy Cox, Martha Marjoram and Amelia Crowther speaking on Veganism and Charlotte Oredecki, Hannah Jenkins and Katie Wright speaking about Climate Change. All six students represented the school in a passionate and professional manner and are already preparing for their next competition!
