The Sign of the Cross:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Father

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.   Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and
to the Son and to the Holy
As it was in the beginning, is
now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from
there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection
of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Act of Worship

There is an Act of Worship each morning.

Grace Before Meals

We conclude Period 4 of every day by saying Grace before meals.

Every good thing we have comes from God, and that is
why we offer Grace before Meals, to say thank you for all
that we have and to be mindful of those who have so little.
Choose one from our nine prayers:

1. Lord, we thank you for food, drink and all that we receive
daily from your gracious hand. Amen.

2. Bless us, O Lord and these Thy gifts which we are about to
receive through your goodness, through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

3. God is great. God is good. Let us thank him for our food.
By his hand we are fed, give us Lord our daily bread. Amen.

4. Come Lord Jesus , be our guest, and let
these gifts to us be blest. Amen.

5. Lord bless this food to our use and us to your service and
make us ever mindful of the needs of others. Amen.

6. Lord, we thank you for the gift of food. Amen.

7. Bless those who grow, prepare and serve our food. Amen.

8. Lord, we are ever mindful of the needs of others. Amen

9. We pray for a world of justice and equality for all. Amen.

10. Thank you Jesus for all of the food you have given us.
Help us to share our food and please help those who don't have enough.
Help us to be grateful for our food.

11. Father, thank you for this food we eat and for all those who have worked to make it available:
Thank you for your love for each and everyone of us.

12. Dear God, help us to be grateful for the food that we have,
because we know that some people in the world go to bed hungry every night of their lives.

13. God is great, God is good.
Let us thank him for our food.
By his hands, we are fed.
Let us thank him for our bread.

14. Let us thank God for food when others are hungry;
for drink when others are thirsty;
for friends when others are lonely.

Prayer before a Meeting

“For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them”
— Matthew 18:20

Lord, as we prepare to begin our meeting,
we recall your promise to be present
when two or three are gathered in your name.
We know that without you among us,
and within each of us,
we will labour in vain.

All: Unite us, Lord, in your Spirit.

We rejoice that we are blessed and called together
to work in your name.
We pray that we will respond generously
to this opportunity to serve you
and that we will grow in our Christian calling

All: Unite us, Lord, in your Spirit.

Inspire us with your Spirit of wisdom;
plant seeds of your vision in our hearts and minds;
give us humour and give us humility
in our working with one another,
so that we may know the privilege of participating
in the coming about of your kingdom

All: Unite us, Lord, in your Spirit.

The Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust Inaugural Mass (2014) Bidding Prayers

Ss Peter and Paul,  Yeadon:

Let us pray for Pope Francis and all those entrusted with the leadership of the Church, on whom we rely so heavily:  that they may be fearless and rock-like in proclaiming  Christ’s message of hope,  truth and love for all;  and that,  through the working of the Holy Spirit, they will be granted the

courage and wisdom always to lead in faith and serve in love the flock that has been entrusted to their care, and in turn guide us to bring the Good News to everyone we meet.

Lord hear us

All:  Lord graciously hear us

St. Mary's Horsforth

Let us pray for world leaders:  that their decisions may reflect the wisdom and loving care of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, and that, in seeking the welfare of all the peoples of the Earth, they act justly, truthfully, peacefully and with compassion, never forgetting our responsibility to be good stewards of the Earth’s God-given resources which must be shared fairly.

Lord hear us

All:  Lord graciously hear us

St Joseph’s, Pudsey:

Let us pray for everyone in the world who doesn’t have enough to eat today; for those whose lives have been torn apart by war and violence;  for those who do not have the chance to go to school;  for those who suffer through untruth or lack of love;  and for everyone who is trying to help them in any way.

May our world reflect more and more God’s Kingdom Values of Love, Truth, Justice, Peace and

Lord hear us

All:  Lord graciously hear us

St Joseph’s, Otley:

Let us pray for anyone we know who would appreciate a prayer today; for those who are ill and for those who worry about and care for them; for those who are lonely or who have many problems; for those who are sad because someone they love has died and for those without faith, hope or love.

May we always do what Jesus told us and show our love for our neighbour in the way we live our lives, remembering that our actions speak louder than our words.

Lord hear us

All:  Lord graciously hear us

Sacred Heart, Ilkley:

Let us pray for all the schools  that comprise The Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust: for  our

children, teachers, governors  and all those who contribute in any way  to the success of what we seek to achieve. We remember especially all our Year 3 children who have begun preparing to make their First Holy Communion and our Year 9 pupils who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation  later this year.

Lord hear us

All: Lord graciously hear us

Sacred Heart, Ilkley:

Let us pray that we may grow ever closer as a community that has Christ at its centre, and that each of us uses our unique gifts and talents so that together we encourage and support each other to live lives that measure up to the standard that Jesus set for his followers.

May the Holy Spirit guide us to recognise the worth and value of each individual, and always to seek the truth, no matter how hard or difficult, in a spirit of love and compassion for our neighbour.

Let us pray that all with whom we work, and all those whom we meet, may see in us the reflection of the master, whose we are, and whom we seek to serve.

All:  Lord graciously hear us

Eternal Rest

Eternal Rest grant unto her, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she Rest in Peace. Amen

Thanks be to God for the life of Martin Green

Lord, we ask you to bless this place.
That all those who seek rest here contemplate life
as seen through Martin's eyes.
That they can enjoy the same love of life
as played out here upon these pitches.
That they can grasp the joy of youthfulness
and all the potential of life when lived to the full.
Let us breath in God's air and
be refreshed, renewed and reminded of a life
that was lived in the love of others.

Thanks be to God for the life of Martin Green

Loving Father,
I thank you for creating use the way we are:
All equal in our right to achieve our own personal best
And for the opportunity sport gives us
To grow in self-confidence, respect for our opponents
And a greater love of ourselves.
May we spread that love to all around
(Lev 19:18) Amen

Thanks for a new day

Thank you Lord for the dawn of a new day
For the gift of light and life.
Thank you for vision and purpose
to guide my steps
Lord of light, stay with me today.
Enlighten my doubts and desires.
Shine through my choices today.

Lord, I offer you my hopes and fears today.
I offer you the light and shadows within me.
Let me walk in the light of your presence all day.
May your light shine through me clearly
that others will recognise your goodness in me.
May I never hide your light in the way I live today.

We pray for those lives, made in your image, damaged by violence: Comfort, O comfort your people
We pray for a transforming peace, turning fear into trust, pain into hope and doubt into confidence for a better future
Comfort, O comfort your people. Amen.

Prayers of the Month

Dear Lord, help us to grow
stronger, purer, kinder;
exchanging our faults for new

We pray, Lord that we can
forgive and be forgiving
of others as we would wish
them to be forgiving of us
when we make mistakes.

Christ be beside me,
Christ be behind me,
King of my heart.
Christ be within me,
Christ be below me,
Christ be above me,
never to part.

Lord, may I be
slow to condemn,
quick to forgive,
reluctant to judge
and eager to show mercy.

Lord, help us to be cheerful
and make others happy
to meet us.
Help us to be so true to you
that we are a strength to others.

Lord, make us kind and
considerate, always trying
to make the work of others
easier and not harder.

Lord, grant that every
word we speak may be
fit for you to hear; that
every deed we do may be
fit for you to see and that
you are at the centre of all we are.

Lord, help us to have time
to listen to anyone who
wants to talk to us about
a worry, a problem or a
need. Help us to be patient
and understanding.

Lord, we thank you for
making us who we are;
for hands to work and feet
to walk; for eyes to see and
ears to hear;
for minds to think and plan,
and for hearts to love.

Lord, may we never take
for granted all the things
that come to us so easily
each day and be reminded
that you are the giver of
every good and perfect gift.

Lord, help us to have
respect and tolerance
for the views and for
the beliefs of others.

The light of God surrounds
us, the life of God is
within us, the presence
of God embraces us
and the love of God is
poured out into our

Prayer for Racial Justice

O God, who created all people in your Holy Image, who loves the stranger,
Who cares for the downtrodden, walk with those who face discrimination, protect them from harm,
help them see Christ in our community.
Guide those who fan the fires of discrimination to open their eyes to the beauty of all your creation
and respect the human dignity of all people.
Open our hearts to those who face hatred and injustice because of their race, their background,
their ethnicity that we might better help them belong.
 Through Christ Our Lord, Amen
