St. Mary's Menston

Through engagement with the arts, we can move beyond survival and begin to flourish and thrive. At St Mary's, we provide a range of activities and opportunities beyond the classroom to enable students to develop their love for the arts, widen their experiences, work with professionals in the industry and build a vast range of interpersonal skills.

Key Stage 3 Productions

At KS3, we offer Drama Club, giving students an opportunity to explore the world of theatre in a dynamic and interactive environment.

We also offer a production dedicated to KS3, giving students the experience of performing at a high standard. Recent productions have included:

  • The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
  • Peter Pan
  • Fantastic Mr Fox

We are incredibly proud of our school productions and we have a wealth of experience in creating successful shows which give students much more than the chance to perform on stage. The production which typically runs from September until February, offers students a number of different roles and creates a strong sense of community.

Trips

We believe that having the opportunity to visit the theatre collaboratively and enjoy theatre as a shared experience is important, as such we offer a variety of theatre experiences for students. We have strong links with our local theatres to enable us to offer theatre tickets to students at a reasonable cost. Past trips have included:

  • Pantomimes
  • Musical Theatre such as Blood Brothers
  • Plays such as Othello

We also offer our older students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of performing arts on our residential cultural experiences. We run trips to London and New York to allow students to engage with the highest standards of theatre, work with professionals and explore the culture of two cities that thrive on theatre.
