Sixth Form Support

Students benefit from outstanding levels of care, guidance and support”

Ofsted

At St Mary's Sixth Form, we take great pride in offering you unwavering and comprehensive support throughout your time with us, tailored to your individual needs.

Dedicated Team

As a St Mary's Sixth Former, you will be assigned to a form group in Year 12 for the two years of study. Your Form Tutor sees you each day and is the first point of contact between home and school. Their primary responsibility is to support you in your wellbeing and academic progress.  They will review your progress, help you set targets and provide information, advice and guidance to enable you to participate fully in Sixth Form opportunities. If you ever need extra support, the Sixth Form team, Mentors and Counsellors can assist.

Academic Guidance

Our experienced Sixth Form Teachers are dedicated to helping you reach your full potential. They know their students well. You will be treated as an individual and will benefit from this as well as being taught in smaller groups.

Destinations support

As you approach the next chapter of your life, our dedicated team is here to help you navigate the university, apprenticeships and career planning process. We are here to ensure you make informed decisions about your future. Our students travel far and wide with 48% going to Russell Group universities.

You can find out more information on the destinations they go to by clicking here.

Pastoral Care

We understand that personal wellbeing is integral to academic success and that there may be times you need some extra support.  At St Mary's, you will find a team of Sixth Form Leaders, Counsellors and Mentors who will be there to support you - whatever the issue.

Students feel comfortable and respected, which is essential in enabling students to prosper academically.

Peer and Community Support

We foster a community where you can collaborate, share experiences, and build lasting friendships.  A spirit of unity and co-operation is fostered through Sixth Form activities such as assemblies, charity fundraising, social events, trips, residential visits and liturgies.

The care and encouragement given to me throughout my time in school has provided a willingness to make mistakes and then improve, leading to greater growth and development.
